Dark Zone Studios is bringing a grim little nightmare to PC this December. Titled 4:AM, it’s a cinematic puzzle platformer that will launch on Steam on December 10th, 2026. A side-scrolling stealth adventure, it’s full of environmental puzzles and continuous threats that keep you on your toes.
4:AM is set in a near-future world that’s been ruined by a mysterious substance called the Yellow. The game imagines a society divided between the people who control the substance and the unfortunate souls being used as lab rats to produce it.
Aila is one of the people trapped inside the system. After breaking out of the facility, she finds that the world outside is a city where the old rules have completely fallen apart. Machines patrol the wreckage, searchlights sweep across abandoned streets, and the towers are still watching everyone below.
It all kicks off as the clock strikes 4:AM, with Aila waking up in the crazy world. There’s a N.O.D.E. system in the game, which lets you copy objects directly from the environment and place them somewhere else. It includes furniture, debris, light sources and functional tools.
Electricity, water and fire all react dynamically depending on the materials around them and the context in which you use them. Something that looks harmless in one situation might become a massive problem in another, and vice versa.
There’s no single correct solution to the challenges you’ll encounter. Enemies react to sound, movement and disruption, so even the smallest mistake can make things considerably more complicated. On that note, take a look at the game below.
If you want to try it out before launch, try out the 4:AM demo
The available demo on Steam gives you a chance to get your hands on the N.O.D.E. tool and experiment with copying and repurposing objects from the surroundings. The demo also includes multiple ways to approach certain challenges and obstacles.
