Indie American developer Dead Possum Games has announced a new co-op game, The Royal Restoration Society. And I know that it sounds more like a medieval RPG than an organising game. That’s because the setting indeed is a medieval kingdom.
The family home of House Marmosa has been completely ransacked, so Queen Zoe hires you to clean It up. As a member of the prestigious Royal Restoration Society, you go into Castle Marmosa to clean, redecorate and make the place look like royalty actually lives there again.
You pick up thousands of things and put them back where they belong, including dresses, jewellery, weapons and armour. There are also dozens of pieces of rubbish and dirt, plus torn banners and ornate rugs that need repairing.
The castle has nine rooms with different themes. You’ve got places like the Banquet Hall, Armory and King’s Bedchamber, alongside cosy bedrooms, a glittering treasure room and a magnificent banquet hall. But not every room is immediately available. You’ll need to find hidden objects and discover the keys that unlock certain areas.
There’s also a full skill tree. You can unlock abilities that automatically sort your bag, point you towards hard-to-find objects and even transport things between floors. You still have to physically put every item back by hand.
The Royal Restoration Society is like PowerWash Simulator meets Unpacking
You can play entirely solo, or play with three others for online co-op. Also, you can take your time and restore the castle at your own pace. Or switch to timed mode and try to beat your best times and climb the leaderboards.
The Royal Restoration Society is now available to wishlist on Steam. The game has full controller support and a launch planned for late 2026.
