If you’re a Monica and find cleaning up a massive mess therapeutic, then Clean Start is a game that you should play. The game has you cleaning and organising other people’s houses. And there are actual stories hiding underneath all that dust.

Simplified Games and Serious Sim have dropped a new trailer for Clean Start, which is launching on PC on November 5th, 2026. There’s already a demo available on Steam, and you can play it as part of October’s Steam Next Fest, too.

Developed by Polish studio Serious Sim, Clean Start is a cosy cleaning and organising game. You play as Lena, a young woman trying to figure out life and work in a foreign country. She doesn’t fully understand the local language, and her job involves cleaning and organising other people’s homes. In doing so, she starts discovering little pieces of the people who live there through their belongings.

Every old letter, forgotten toy and random object you come across might reveal something about a client’s past. There’s a certain thrill in piecing together someone’s life just by inspecting their belongings.

Clean Start draws inspiration from real experiences of migration

Particularly the wave of economic migration during the 1990s. It wasn’t always an easy experience for the women involved, either. They faced fears, struggles and plenty of unpleasant situations while trying to make a living far from home. Serious Sim wanted to take inspiration from their memories and turn them into a positive story, focusing on the hopes and worries that come with starting over in an unfamiliar place.

Clean Start uses cute diorama-style environments with hundreds of interesting objects. There are cassette tapes, spinning music boxes, houseplants and mannequins. The game also has multiple solutions and outcomes. What you discover can influence your conversations with your employers and even the gifts they give you.
