Megabit Publishing and Norwegian studio Red Thread Games have just shown off a new trailer for Hello Sunshine at the PC Gaming Show: Tokyo Direct. The survival mystery revolves around one extremely simple problem: the sun is trying to kill you.
Hello Sunshine takes place in the sun-scorched remains of a corporate empire called Sunshine. You play as the final employee, wandering through the wrecked world and trying to reach the giant tower at the end of the road. All while figuring out what the heck the last machine remembering your name is supposed to mean.
The new trailer follows the player as she moves through crumbling settlements. She scavenges parts from downed war machines and sticks close to the absolutely massive mechanical companion, the giant robot. That’s because, during the day, its shadow is your only protection from the heat. Watch it here!
You can play Hello Sunshine alone or with a friend in co-op
Step outside the robot’s shadow for too long during the day and the heat will eventually kill you. Once the sun goes down, the wasteland becomes bitterly cold. The robot eventually stops at a Sunshine Service Station to recharge.
That’s when you can actually slow down a little, too. You can make camp, cook food, craft new gear, upgrade your equipment and repair the robot. You’ll be searching supply drops and storage units, picking through fallen war machines, military stations, secret military installations, stores, abandoned settlements and abandoned towns for useful stuff.
And then there are the Little Guys. You can assemble and program helper bots to handle various jobs, including gathering resources, mapping terrain, hunting prey and defending against drone attacks.
The game shows a deep relationship between the human and the robot. You both help each other more and more as the game progresses. Hello Sunshine is coming soon to PC and is available to wishlist on Steam.
