German indie studio ROTxBLAU has announced Grandma(88) (called Meine Oma(88) in German). It’s a mystery thriller, coming to Steam sometime later in 2026. In the game, you try to figure out what your family has been hiding while your dying grandmother keeps changing reality around you.

Grandma(88) hides a family secret that stretches back to the Nazi era

You are a young granddaughter who visits her dying grandmother. That simple visit turns into a giant shifting labyrinth built from Grandma’s memories. Except these memories aren’t exactly reliable. They’re full of contradictions, missing pieces, and things that just don’t add up.

Grandma is literally creating the world you walk through, not just telling the story. She’s your narrator, your opponent, and sometimes even your ally. She guides you when she wants to or misleads you whenever you’re getting too close to something uncomfortable.

She also protects parts of the past she doesn’t want uncovered and distracts you. She’s the one who decides exactly how much of your family’s history you’re allowed to see. So, you’re constantly deciding whether to believe her or call her out.

Whenever you challenge her version of events, everything around you can change. Rooms shift around, pathways open or disappear, characters show up differently, objects change, and clues move. Entire memories can suddenly take on completely different meanings.

Trust is actually one of your biggest resources in Grandma(88). If you push Grandma too hard, she can get angry, retreat behind her stories, refuse to tell you more, withdraw completely, or even shut you out of the narrative altogether.

Grandma(88) is a family horror, where the scary part comes from intimacy, silence, repression, inherited trauma, and the stories families tell to preserve or suppress their past. Take a look at the game below. You can wishlist it on Steam now.
