Cthulhu is a massive, god-like entity that’s sleeping deep under the ocean. People go insane just sensing it. Carrying forward the Cthulhu Mythos, The Cosmic Abyss is developed by Big Bad Wolf and published by Nacon.
Let me tell you the story of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss
Set in 2053, the game imagines a near future where Earth is running out of resources. Corporations have pushed into the ocean’s depths. You step into the role of Noah, an investigator from Ancile, a secret Interpol division that deals with occult cases.
It’s a first-person adventure that focuses on exploration and piecing together clues. You get an AI companion named Key who guides you through the investigation. Activities include scanning environments with tools like sonar, interacting with the Crypt, and unlocking new frequencies that change how you perceive the world.
Most of the story unfolds inside R’lyeh, the infamous sunken city from Lovecraft’s mythos. The devs of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss reimagines it as a massive, maze-like structure. The deeper you go, the stranger things get, and the influence of Cthulhu starts to mess with your perception and sanity.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss includes a system with 17 evolutions that includes abilities, energy, and perception upgrades. You can mix and match them to create different builds. On top of that, corruption can actually damage or remove evolutions entirely.
