Lately, indie studio Oxalis Games is quite busy creating cosy titles for PC. They’ve recently revealed Tiny Dwellings, a pixel-art builder that’s all about placing stuff and decorating little spaces. Meanwhile, their other title, Moonfrost, is coming to Steam Early Access on October 12th.
First, let’s talk about Moonfrost
It’s a cosy life-sim with deeper building systems. You’re restoring a struggling village, building relationships with its residents and helping heal the community from within. You play as a Frost Hunter, someone who learns to harness the mysterious powers of Moonfrost.
Meteor storms have devastated the village, and you can transform those fallen meteors into all kinds of structures. Alongside that, you can harvest, fish, forage, craft and cook. As the village starts coming back to life, the stories of the people living there start opening up as well. You can wishlist the game on Steam.
Then there’s Tiny Dwellings, the Dorfromantik and Unpacking-like
You can build tiny homes, rooms, gardens, outdoor areas, and full little dioramas. It’s just a quiet creative sandbox where you can make things at your own pace and enjoy the result. The game has over 1,000 unique decoration items like furniture, plants, props, lights and more.
There’s also Terrain Painting, which lets you create bespoke dioramas instead of just dropping decorations into a fixed space. So, you get to build both cosy indoor and outdoor areas. And the game has a Photo Mode, which lets you take a picture of the house and send it to your friends.
Tiny Dwellings doesn’t just stop when you’re finished building. You can leave your diorama running in the background and watch it change over time. Day turns into night, the lights come on, and the dynamic lighting system changes the whole mood. Rain can turn into sunshine, too, while the original soundtrack keeps everything in a relaxing, lo-fi zone.
Tiny Dwellings is coming to Steam Next Fest this fall.
