After almost a year of being unobtainable, Nate’s Blade has finally re-entered Fisch, with this most recent update featuring the Rod. So, find out how to get Nate’s Blade in Fisch and what makes this DEV Rod so sought-after and overpowered!

Let’s get fishin’.

How To Get Nate’s Blade DEV Rod in Fisch

Your quest starts at Sunstone Island, where you need to meet Nate’s loyal cat, Miso, who is hiding out inside the cave behind Merlin. After some dialogue about Nate’s disappearance, Miso will guide you to the computer and turn it on. The code is different for every player, but the locations of each code part are in the same place:

  • First: On the left side of the bed.
  • Second: On the bottom shelf behind the brown couch near the cave entrance.
  • Third: Inside the black car on the seat.
  • Fourth: On the desk where the computer is.

Input the code in numerical order, clicking the corresponding shapes that match to move on. After watching the cutscene on the computer, you’ve officially begun the quest to find Nate.

Nate’s Quest: Restore The Blade Part 1

  • Find the Crimson Centrepiece: Located within the Crimson Caverns, at the Luminescent Cavern section, within the Desolate Deep.
    • Find Miso within the cavern, choose the “How did you get here so fast?” dialogue, and then begin fishing beside him. It’s a rare find, so depending on your build, it’s typically a 1 in 25 chance or 1 in 50 chance.
  • Find the Broken Blade: Head to the Depths via Vertigo, speak with Miso again, and then use an Abyssal Enchant Relic in the podium to the side of Miso. Then, head up the waterfall to the left and insert a Hexed Enchant Relic into the podium at the top.
    • After the gate opens into the Depths Maze, you need to reach the end. Unfortunately, because the gates constantly open and close, there is no specific route to take, making this part annoying to navigate. On the right-hand side of the floor, you’ll find the Broken Blade piece.

Nate’s Quest: Restore The Blade Part 2

After this point, anyone who previously bought Nate’s Blade from the Black Market will have their Rod restricted.

Moosewood

With both parts, return to Nate’s Cave at Sunstone and place both pieces on the table next to Miso and reassemble the rod. With the new Nate’s Blade, you need to perfectly catch every fish at Moosewood Docks using the rod.

Hint: If you open your questbook, you can see which fish you have and have yet to perfectly catch for this questline.

Roslit Volcano

After this, you need to perfectly catch every fish of Mythical rarity and below in the Roslit Volcano using Nate’s Blade. Again, you can track which fish you’ve caught using your Questbook. When this specific task is complete, you’ll automatically unlock the Slash Ability on Nate’s Blade.

Snowcap

Next up, you need to perfectly catch 20 Colossal Squids at Snowcap using Nate’s Blade. To complete this one, enter Snowcap Cave, where the Glacier Fish are abundant, and begin fishing from the ice sheet in the cave river.

A Nostalgia Trip

  • Catch every original fish with Nate’s Blade: 126 total
    • Check the Quest Book to track.
  • Catch 5 fish with every original Fishing Rod: 15 total rods
    • Check the Quest Book to track.
  • Obtain every free and obtainable original title: 45 total
    • For this, I actually suggest visiting the official Fisch Wiki and looking at each title requirement, and comparing it to your Quest Book to find out which you still need.
  • Obtain every original boat: 10 total
    • Visit the Shipwright on Moosewood Docks and buy each boat. If you’re late-game, these are pretty inexpensive. For any you’re missing, check the Quest Book.
  • Obtain every original lantern: 11 total
    • Speak to the Lantern Seller behind the Lighthouse at Moosewood.
  • Unlock every original badge: 30 total
    • Again, I suggest following the Fisch Wiki if you haven’t already completed this.
  • Enchant 21 times: 21 total
    • Pretty inexpensive and easy to complete. Most players have an abundance of Enchant Relics. If not, you can easily find them whilst fishing.
  • Witness every original Weather and Modifier: 8 total
    • Can use Totems to speed this up if you need to, or let this passively cross off whilst completing other challenges.

Find Nate

After completing the above quest and returning to Miso, you then need to find Nate’s Crown, Nate’s Glasses, and Nate’s Lantern.

  • Nate’s Crown: On top of the buoy near the Statue of Sovereignty.
  • Nate’s Glasses: In front of the stop sign, next to the skeleton, as you enter the Desolate Deep.
  • Nate’s Lantern: Head to the side of the merchant and other buyables, such as the Reinforced Rod, and find the Lantern next to the bait crates.

After collecting all three, next to where you found the Lantern, a crack will appear in the wall. Use Nate’s Blade to break through into Dr It Fish’s Lair. Find and speak to Dr It Fish, and after the cutscene and end dialogue, head upstairs and speak to Nate.

Finally, now that Nate is freed, you’ll unlock the full potential of Nate’s Blade and also receive Nate’s Car.

Bonus Content

If you head back into Nate’s Cave and find the Cheese and gift it to Miso, you’ll unlock him as a companion.
