First revealed during the Wholesome Direct last June, Book Nook is a cosy title by Malapata Studio, the developers of Camper Van: Make It Home. A little building game, it’s coming to PC as well as Nintendo Switch 1 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Fiddle with charming objects in Book Nook
You build tiny diorama scenes piece by piece, putting furniture, decorations, books, plants, ornaments and all the small details into place. It’s like the video game version of those wooden book nook kits. The ones where you pop out pre-cut MDF or thick cardboard pieces and spend ages slotting them together before sticking the finished thing between your books on a shelf.
There are no timers in Book Nook, as it provides more of a zen experience where you can take things slowly and enjoy putting everything together. The pieces are beautifully hand-drawn and snap into place, while each scene gradually reveals itself almost like a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle.
Then there are the finishing touches. You can add books, plants, ornaments and other little decorations to give every nook its own personality. On that note, take a look at the new Book Nook trailer to see what the game actually feels like.
Every completed diorama is connected to a memory
As you keep building, Book Nook tells a bigger story. We’ll meet Dario and Elora, and their story stretches from childhood all the way into old age, touching on love, family and the people who stay with us through different parts of life.
Book Nook is developed and published by Malapata Studio alongside Wings. It’s getting a 2026 release date and will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch and will be compatible with Nintendo Switch 2. There’s a free demo available on Steam, so you can check it out if you want.
