I can almost guarantee that we all liked Zefyr: A Thief’s Melody. And now, we have a new title from the same developer, whose creations also include titles like Slide: Animal Race and Silent Night: A Christmas Delivery. The upcoming title is called Yashi – Sand Driver, and it’s a survival-crafting road trip game.

The developer is Oneiric Worlds, the French studio behind Zefyr. Based in Toulouse, France, the studio is run entirely by solo developer Mathias Fontmarty. His new game leans into solitude, minimalist survival, and the feeling of reconnecting with a long-lost nature.

So, what’s the trip for in Yashi – Sand Driver?

You play as Yashi, a lone survivor living in an endless desert. Everything changes after a mysterious radio signal suddenly appears. Somewhere far beyond the horizon is New Eden, which might be the last sanctuary where humanity still survives.

So, you hop into your van, your faithful coyote jumps in, too, and the journey begins. Your goal is to survive the heat, scavenge resources, craft tools, and find your way to New Eden. It’s a pure exploration experience where the desert is your biggest challenge.

Even though survival is a major part of the game, it isn’t brutally punishing. Yashi – Sand Driver is a short but soothing journey where you’ll experience both the loneliness and peacefulness of a massive desert. Exploration, scavenging, and crafting upgrades for your van are the main focus.

You’ll freely drive your van across the wilderness, navigate dangerous terrain, overcome obstacles, and make your way through winding canyons and towering peaks. Search for food and water while carefully managing your resources to survive the relentless heat.

Nature is the real enemy here. You’ll have to survive raging sandstorms, lightning strikes, hurricanes, and deadly chasms. Every obstacle can either completely stop your journey or force you to figure out another route.
