Last year, in October, our correspondents visited Seed Sparkle Lab’s booth at the Tokyo Game Show 2025. There, they tried out Starsand Island, which was just announced back then. It’s a cosy farming life game, where you leave city life behind for a fresh start on the beautiful island.
Starsand Island entered Early Access on Steam and Xbox Series in February 2026. Now, the game is hitting Version 1.0 on August 18th, 2026. And it’s not only fully launching on the platforms it already exists on, but on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, too.
What’s new with the full launch of Starsand Island?
The biggest thing coming with the full release is online multiplayer. Version 1.0 finally lets up to four players jump in together. You can farm, fish, build, explore, and just hang out on the island as a group.
Another new piece of content will be the seasonal Autumn Pumpkin Carnival. It features its own storyline and event-exclusive quests. You’ll find activities such as catching glowing jellyfish, growing festival pumpkins, and providing animals with special feed to produce candy.
The full release also expands on the number of character interactions you can have with islanders. Nineteen NPCs will receive new three-heart and five-heart relationship quests that unlock additional content. The game’s fourteen romanceable characters will also gain more dating activities, including picnics, kite flying, and playing arcade games together.
Starsand Island is all about escaping the daily grind and settling into a peaceful seaside paradise where life moves a lot slower. You can spend time with capybaras, cats, and dogs, catch fish, and wander through the mysterious Moonlit Forest.
There’ll also be a limited-time launch discount available once Version 1.0 goes live on August 18th. You can grab Starsand Island on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
