Game developers are taking everyday objects and turning them into horror cauldrons. This time, we have Rock, Paper, Severed that takes the world’s most harmless little hand game, Rock, Paper, Scissors, and makes it absolutely horrifying!
A psychological horror tabletop strategy title, Rock, Paper, Severed is being developed and published by Buzzin’ Games. While the game is set to arrive later this year on PC, the ongoing gamescom 2026 is giving you a first chance to actually play it.

So, it’s the usual game, except every throw you lose costs you a finger. You have to read your opponents, manage risk and decide how much you’re willing to gamble. There are also various items that can change the odds.
Across the single-player and multiplayer experiences, the game’s characters appear in different configurations. You gradually learn more about the people sitting around The Old Sire’s table. Their stories are scattered throughout the experience if you want to dig deeper.
There’s the Entity, which gives the game a more unsettling one-on-one experience. You face off against it in a game intended to wipe away your sins. Each round takes you another step toward absolution, or something much worse, while pieces of your past begin surfacing.
Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode lets two to four players sit down together, with every player’s hand representing their life. Every loss costs a finger, so you can bluff, outthink your friends and try to outlast them.
Speaking of characters in Rock, Paper, Severed, Buzzin’ Games is revealing them one by one. This week, they introduced Eleanor Nellie Ashford, better known as Nervous Nellie. She’s the fourth and final playable character brought together by The Old Sire, and her backstory is a horrifying journey from terrified victim to notorious killer.
Previously, they revealed Michael Dowd and Edward Mullen. Michael is burdened by a tragic past that brought him to the sinister table. Meanwhile, Edward aka Metal ‘Ed is an individual who survived a brutal trauma, leaving him with a steel plate in his skull and deep-seated guilt.
