Arc Games and Magic Design Studios, the indie team behind Have a Nice Death and Unruly Heroes, have announced their upcoming title Nautus. It’s a quirky island adventure where you build stuff and manage resources. The game’s coming to Steam Early Access in 2027.
The story starts when you receive an unsettling radio message from your uncle, Bernard Torpedo, and head to the remote N.A.U.T.U.S. research station. There, you find that the scientists have lost their memories and developed a paralyzing fear of the ocean.
So, you’ll pilot an upgradable submarine into the depths, exploring uncharted trenches, colourful coral reefs, underwater anomalies and sunken pirate shipwrecks. And that too while dealing with bizarre mutant creatures.
You’ll also find mysterious artefact stones and gather rare materials from the depths. You can then use the materials to craft specialised submarine modules, protective equipment, weapons, gear and other machinery.
Nautus is Subnautica, but with a tropical outpost
You can build up the outpost, manage your resources, set up crafting machinery and turn the secluded island into a proper home base. You’ll also meet the eccentric locals, including a tanning-obsessed diver and an expedition chief and help them with various projects.
You can play the game entirely solo, but there’s four-player online co-op, too. Someone can manage the base while another person wanders off into a trench. NAUTUS is currently available to wishlist on Steam. Also, while you’re at it, catch the first glimpse of the game here.
