Monster Prom, Sucker for Love, and Doki Doki Literature Club. If these are the games you liked playing, there’s another one up for grabs. Well, the full game is not out yet. But the demo for Welcome, Dear Human is out on Steam now.
Welcome, Dear Human is a fully animated, meta-narrative monster dating sim visual novel. It’s the debut title of indie developers KikiCan and Ronkad. KikiCan is an animator and runs the KikiCan YouTube channel, while Ronkad is a game developer with multiple previous releases on itch.io.
It’s a choice-driven story where you meet real monsters, learn how to understand them, and deal with their strange rules. Every monster has different needs and different ways of communicating, so every relationship is unique.
You get 10 romanceable monsters, each with their own route and personality. There are branching choices, plenty of secrets, multiple endings, and a creepy-cute meta-narrative story. The game also includes partial voice acting, customisable apartment designs, customisable playstyle, and several minigames.
Alongside the fully animated characters, there’s also hand-drawn artwork, an original soundtrack, and an unlockable music and art gallery. Curious to see what the game looks like? Below is the latest trailer for the Welcome, Dear Human demo.
So, what’s included in the Welcome, Dear Human demo?
You get to experience the complete Sleep Paralysis Demon story route. It’s around 8,000 words long and has roughly 1-2 hours of gameplay. That is, if you’re aiming for the first ending. The route includes three different endings, apartment room design choices, and minigames.
The demo also includes part of the Octo route. This one includes one ending and introduces the full game’s story with around 40 minutes of additional content. The available language options are English, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.
The Welcome, Dear Human demo is now available on Steam for free.
