Rhythm games and roguelites have been having a really fun crossover phase lately. Joining to that trend is the upcoming Alpha Nomos. Timing your attacks to music is fun and all, but Alpha Nomos is taking it one step further by making the music part of the fight.

Published and developed by indie studio RibCage Games, Alpha Nomos is heading to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A rhythm-action roguelite, every attack, dodge, and ability locks to the beat. You play as Cello, who fights corrupted puppets across advancing arenas using musical instruments as weapons.

RibCage dropped a new trailer announcing the console versions. It shows off the Xyloblades, which are a pair of xylophone swords. Every time they connect with an enemy, they play a musical note, so every swing is both an attack and part of the soundtrack.

String your attacks together on the beat, and Cello slices through entire rooms while basically composing the music at the same time. Take a look at the trailer below!

You’ve actually got to keep the rhythm going in Alpha Nomos

In the game, every weapon sound comes from live studio recordings. You get to hear real instruments being played behind every strike. The game also includes a timing offset that lets you adjust everything until the beat feels right.

Another mechanic worth mentioning is the musical powerups. You’ll collect effects like Reverb, Flanger, Delay, and four more in the full release. They change how the soundtrack sounds while you’re playing. The whole audio system in Alpha Nomos runs on FMOD, so the mix reacts to what you’re doing from one moment to the next.

Alpha Nomos already has a free playable demo available on Steam. It launches in Q3 2026 on PC, while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions follow later in 2026.
