Odencat has revealed the release date for Mousebusters on Steam. The Meg’s Monster and Wish Upon a Cat makers is bringing this weird little pixel horror adventure to PC on June 11th, 2026. It’s cute but creepy, much like their other titles.
Mousebusters is Ghostbusters, but with mice
You move into a new apartment, and then almost immediately get turned into a mouse. Luckily, you run into another rodent called Chief. According to him, there’s only one way to break the curse: clear the entire apartment building of the ghosts haunting its residents.
You spend your time exploring a haunted apartment complex from the perspective of a tiny mouse. You sneak around the homes of the building’s colourful residents. Every apartment has a different ghost hiding somewhere, but finding them isn’t quite simple.
These spirits feed on negative emotions, so you’ll have to do some detective work first. The idea is to investigate each resident, learn about their fears, insecurities, and personal struggles, and use that information to draw the ghost out.
Searching rooms, solving puzzles, examining suspicious objects, and trying not to get caught snooping around are part of the challenge. Thankfully, Chief stays in contact throughout your investigations. He’s your guide during missions, helping you solve puzzles while also providing plenty of comedic commentary along the way.
There’s a free demo, in case you want to try it
The Mousebusters demo on Steam has been out for a while. It focuses on Room 102, which belongs to an overworked programmer. The poor guy gets home from work and immediately starts coding again, surviving on energy drinks and endless late nights.
You explore the apartment as a mouse. Once the programmer falls asleep, you need to gather enough hints to figure out his computer login credentials. Shelves, desks, and other seemingly ordinary objects might all contain important clues.
The ghost only appears while the PC is running, so timing matters. You have to eliminate the spirit without alerting the resident. Armed with a ray gun supplied by Chief, you’ll take part in EEB, or Exciting Exorcism Battles.
The Steam version launches on June 11th, 2026, for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck users. A Nintendo Switch version is also planned for later. The game will sell for $12.99.
