Motorslice is a new game by publisher Top Hat Studios and developer Regular Studio. Out across multiple platforms, it has everything. There’s parkour and boss climbing, and it’s all in a brutalist post-apocalyptic nightmare.
Motorslice is now available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. You play as P, a tomboyish slicer who infiltrates a post-apocalyptic, brutalist megastructure to destroy hostile autonomous machinery.
P is fully voiced by Kira Buckland. Visually, the game is low-poly 3D with a claymation-like style. Meanwhile, the soundtrack is a full atmospheric DnB and jungle OST by Pizza Hotline. Take a look at the latest trailer to get a gist of the game.
What exactly do you do in Motorslice?
You parkour through the ruins of a massive megastructure, fighting construction equipment that all wants you dead. But it’s also trying to be chill and introspective at the same time.
You get a lot of movement options. Running, climbing, sliding, crouching, wall running, and doing stunts. You also get a chainsaw, which you can use to cross impossible distances.
And when I say everything wants to kill you, I mean it. You deal with heavy machines everywhere, from small autonomous construction bots to massive dump trucks, all hostile, all trying to end you.
From your end, you get to fight and kill the bosses, which are huge, colossal machines. Instead of just hacking at them from the ground, you actually climb them and slice them apart piece by piece.
Also, there are parts where you’re just alone with a flashlight, and suddenly you’re just a tiny being inside a massive, crushing space. Running through endless corridors, you cross the weird liminal areas.
Motorslice has a bunch of imposing, dreadful machines lurking around. But amidst that, P finds a mysterious malfunctioning Orb Drone called Orbie that teams up with her. It joins you on your daily routine as a Slicer.
