The hugely popular zombie survival title Doomsday: Last Survivors has launched another exciting collaboration, this time with the legendary sci-fi anime IP Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045.
The main event is titled Shell: Cyber Pursuit, and combines the polished post-apocalyptic survival thrills from Doomsday with the deep cyberpunk lore from Ghost in the Shell.
Let’s delve into how it balances both these styles, and why you should be itching to get involved.
Underneath the Shell
The event introduces a number of exclusive modes that ask you to think strategically, and we’ve listed the five main ones for you below:
Posthuman Crisis: This is a limited time cross-server 10v10 mode where you’re randomly assigned to either the Section 9 or Posthuman faction. You must defeat zombies on the battlefield to recharge your faction, with the final phase seeing the Leader riding the Tachikoma into battle. To win you have to defeat the opposing faction’s Tachikoma.
Global Network: This works on a network-themed reward system where you complete data nodes to unlock prizes – this can include exclusive items like a Motoko Kusanagi Hero Skin.
Section 9 Training: You can complete daily missions here to earn EXP and rewards, such as the Section 9’s Will Portrait Frame.
Section 9 Reunion: This event asks you to complete a series of trials, and by doing so you’ll reunite members of Section 9. And yes, rewards such as a Shelter Decoration and an exclusive Chat Emoji are up for grabs.
1A84 Virus Study: Here some humans on the brink of becoming zombies have been transformed by Posthumans into “Experimental Subjects.” This means they are an all new and very dangerous combat unit. The event itself is centred around a stage-based puzzle challenge where you’re asked to match and eliminate clue icons to uncover targets and progress.
Rewards aplenty
There are specific rewards up for grabs via this mash up as well, including Motoko Kusanagi being available as a Hero Skin, and Tachikoma as a Squad Skin.
There are also Shelter & Visual Themes such as Dimensional City, Ambiance Skin – SAC_2045 and Shelter Decorations, alongside various profile & cosmetic Items such as collab exclusive Hero Armaments.
Finally there are special Namecard, Chat Bubble, Portrait Frame, Tag, and Multiple Chat Emojis.
Make sure you check out the special website page set up for the event here too, where you can learn about even more new modes such as Virus Purge Operation – where the aim is to eliminate emerging viruses within a 30 second time limit.
There’s a Homecoming Event too where you as an active player can invite friends to rejoin the game and team up with you to complete missions and enter draws to win new items.

It wouldn’t be an epic team up without some exclusive merchandise too of course, and this one doesn’t disappoint here either.
Up for grabs specifically is a Doomsday: Last Survivors x Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Exclusive Collaboration Collector’s set, which includes a plush toy, fridge magnets, a commemorative T-shirt, a colour-changing cold cup, and even an umbrella.
