The Onsen Egg is an odd one in the sense that you can’t make it like other recipes in Heartopia. Don’t forget to look for all the Winter Birds before the event ends – there are lots more rewards to obtain.
How to Make an Onsen Egg in Heartopia
To cook up the Onsen Egg dish, you first need to unlock the recipe. This recipe is a reward upon finding and taking a photo of all 16 Onsen Eggs across the Winter Utopia location.
The interesting thing about the Onsen Egg is that you cannot cook it on a regular stove. Instead, you need to go to the Onsen Mountains (which is where Winter Utopia is, anyway), and look for the Onsen Baths.
You’re looking for the baths that have baskets. Head over to the baskets and interact with them to open the Recipe List page. The only available recipe is the Onsen Egg, for now. So, select one Pasteurised Egg and wait for it to cook in the water. Ta-da, you now have a cooked Onsen Egg.
Onsen Egg Recipe
The recipe is simple – all you need is 1x Pasteurised Egg. To get this ingredient, you can purchase it for 100 Gold each from Massimo. Make sure it’s a Pasteurised Egg and not the Egg Cartons that Massimo also sells.
How to Unlock the Onsen Egg Recipe
Taking photos of all 16 Onsen Eggs in Winter Utopia is the only way to unlock the Onsen Egg Recipe. While you can find these at random as you explore the location, I’ve got a handy-dandy Heartopia Onsen Egg Locations guide.
After taking a photo of each Onsen Egg, open the Winter Frost Season event page and select the Fashion Activity tab in the top-right corner. From here, click the Onsen Egg Promise Treasure Hunt button, which is displayed as a circle with polaroid photos inside. This showcases your progress for the treasure hunt, letting you know how many Onsen Eggs you’ve found, and how many you’ve got left.
Once you’ve found all of them, you can claim the Onsen Egg Recipe as a reward. Make sure to find the recipe in your inventory to ‘Learn’ it; otherwise, you can’t make it.
