I’ve already talked about my experience at TGS in my Gamezebo at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 feature. However, now I’m here to talk about Gamezebo and Seed Lab at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 and my experience playing Starsand Island, an upcoming cosy game.
Gamezebo and Seed Lab at the Tokyo Game Show 2025
On Friday, the 26th of September, 2025, I met up with Seed Lab at the Tokyo Game Show to test out one of their newest titles, Starsand Island. It’s a cosy game where you leave city life behind and have a fresh start on Starsand Island, and it has a planned release for 2026.
Aside from the games’ cosiness, their booth was also cosy! With beautiful designs and cute merch, I was relaxed straight away.
Starsand Island Gameplay
If you like Stardew Valley, I highly recommend Starsand Island. In this game, you can fish, raise animals on a farm, DIY and craft items or furniture, and befriend the locals. Or, you can go a step further and romance them!
It has a lot of the elements Stardew Valley has. For example, you will pass out if you don’t sleep by 2 am. There is also a community centre, and you start the game by clearing up the land.
However, Starsand Island brings a breath of fresh air and new elements to gameplay. The game itself is open world, meaning there are plenty of places to explore and discover. You can master combat skills, find treasure, and defeat bosses.
Visit other islands, ride a scooter through the forest, or cruise on the coast. When you need a break, tend to your farm and your animals. Or perhaps you can make something new for your cabin.
One of the things I loved the most was customisation. When you start, you can fully customise your character, ranging from names, hair, clothes, and accessories. The game feels very personal, and there is something for everyone to do. Personally, I love fishing!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to the developers at Seed Lab for meeting me and letting me play! You can find out more about the game via the official Steam page and add it to your wishlist (which I’ve already done).
