We don’t know about you, but this moment in history feels like an ideal time to lose ourselves in a hyper-casual game or two. And Matchy Catch looks like just the ticket.
Developed by Jyamma Games, the youthful Milanese Studio who made a splash this year with their hugely popular debut title Hi-Ball Rush, Matchy Catch is a colorful twist on the matching puzzler format that promises to be even more hypnotically relaxing than genre stalwarts like Candy Crush and Toon Blast.
This is thanks to its simplified approach, which strips out complicated stuff like finding hidden combos and spending moves. You don’t need to swap tiles around or draw lines through them. All you need to do is tap.
Anyone can play Matchy Catch. Rows of symbols slide into view, and all you need to do is tap on the corresponding symbols, in the right order, from the little bank at the bottom of the screen.
For example, if a row contains a bag of fries, a slice of pie, a burger, and a carrot, just tap fries, pie, burger, carrot, and you’re done. A toddler could do it – if you’re willing to give up your phone.
Of course, there’s a little bit more to Matchy Catch than that. There are combo rows, containing sequences that net you extra points, and there are bonus powers too. These include Lightning, which simplifies the patterns on the board, and Spawn Freeze, which stops time so that you can make matches without the pressure of the clock.
Plus, there are tons of tilesets and backgrounds to choose from, so that you can customize Matchy Catch to look as appealing as possible. There are even seasonal skins, enabling you to get into the Halloween or Christmas spirit as you play.
Jyamma Games clearly likes making players happy, as evidenced by its growing library of colorful, accessible casual games and its participation earlier this year in the #PlayApartTogether initiative.
Matchy Catch looks like another pleasing little confection of a game, and you can download it right now on Google Play and the App Store.
