Feed It is out on PC now. It’s a weird little horror game that’s creepy, first-person and has PSX-style visuals. Also, add a horrible situation and some psychological horror to that. Developed by Italian indie team Games On A Chair and published by Pretty Soon, Feed It is the studio’s first commercial release.
You’re stuck sharing a house with an ever-hungry monster. And worse, you’re forced into a symbiotic relationship with the thing. It’s hungry, it’s in charge, and you’d better do what it wants unless you’re ready to deal with the consequences.
And then there’s the annoying little problem of you being hungry, too. Do you feed yourself so you can regain enough strength to escape, or do you give the food to the monster and try to keep it satisfied? Either choice can screw you over, by the way!
Feed It is a short-form, replayable horror title
There are multiple paths toward completion, secrets to find, and different endings. You explore maze-like locations looking for food, while the world around you starts changing and getting increasingly difficult.
The TV is too loud, the monster’s hunger keeps growing, and you need to hurry. The map seems to seamlessly contort and shift depending on the situation, giving it a haunting quality. So, you need to make choices fast and find some way out before the whole situation completely eats you alive.
If you like picking apart metaphors, there’s a deeper meaning behind the relationships and dynamics. It represents the horrors of domestic violence (against women). And things get very real and very intense once you start understanding what Feed It is actually getting at. The game puts a trigger warning at the beginning for potential victims.
