If you’re not used to Aussie Rules Football, this title is a great one to get you started with. Pro Jank Footy is an arcade comedy-sports game that’s out now across multiple platforms. It comes from co-developers Powerbomb Games and Tinker Town, with Umbrella Entertainment publishing.
Pro Jank Footy is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. There’s a 10% launch discount on all platforms. The game has local 1v1 multiplayer, online multiplayer, and single-player against the AI.
The basic setup starts off like a classic retro sports game, with NBA Jam and NHL ’94 being the obvious comparisons
You’ve got two teams of 18 players trying to find openings and score at the other end of the field. Then someone scores, and the other team gets to pick a random power-up that can completely mess with how the next part of the match works.
That’s when the real fun kicks off! You can turn the opposing team into tiny players, flapping seagulls, or even sentient footballs. You can stick a giant brick wall in front of the goal to shut down shots. Or drive a beat-up sedan across the field and launch opposing players into the air by crashing into them.
On the other hand, if you’re getting absolutely destroyed, there are weird solutions for that, too. You can pull the power switch, cause an accidental blackout, and reset the score back to zero. You can double the number of players on your team, remove the umpires, play as a seagull, put goal posts all over the oval, or turn everyone into footballs. I mean, the options you get are crazy!
Pro Jank Footy offers 10 quirky Australian teams and four dynamic stadiums. The system has over 200+ ridiculous power-ups in its roguelite gameplay. These powers can hurt the other team, improve yours, or straight-up change the rules of the game. Take a look at the game below!
