A cosy city builder where mythology is at the centre of it all is what Thveit brings for players. Publisher Crytivo and developer Winter Cats Studios have announced the game, giving a glimpse of what’s in store.
The story focuses on humans and creatures from Norse folklore. Contrary to the common narrative, in this story, they actually live together, help each other out, and become part of the same community.
You get a handful of settlers and a quiet little corner of a procedurally generated island to work with. You try to turn that tiny camp into a proper settlement by building homes, cultivating fields, fishing, tending livestock, putting up workshops, creating docks, and building storage.
You also develop layered production chains that keep everything running. The settlement grows through the lives of its people and the relationships they build. Meanwhile, you’ll also spot strange tracks near the forest and odd lights drifting across the water.
But coexistence is the whole point of Thveit
You need to study every creature, figure out its habits, learn what it eats, understand where it likes to live, and see how it reacts to your settlers. Some of them need food, shelter, quiet spaces, offerings, or specially built homes.
Taking care of them might turn out to be helpful. They can protect your settlement, hand over resources, improve your settlers’ lives, or even warn everyone when danger is nearby. There are different creatures, including dragons, to befriend in Thveit.
Apart from that little island, you can sail to nearby islands, discover other settlements, build relationships, and trade resources. Voyages can also bring back new settlers, rare goods, ancient knowledge, relics, rumours, and discoveries.
