Demon Bluff is an upcoming social deduction game from developer UmiArt. The game will be published by offbrand games, the publishers of Aethermancer and Rivals of Aether II. It’s set to arrive later this year, with a playtest live on Steam right now.
Now, UmiArt has also pulled in support from longtime roguelike streamer Northernlion to publish the title. He’s expected to be hands-on with development, helping fund the project, playtesting builds, and offering feedback on design decisions.
On top of that, he’ll be doing what he normally does best, streaming and putting the game in front of his roughly 3.2M followers across platforms. That will immensely help this upcoming indie title, no doubt about it.
So, what exactly is Demon Bluff about?
Demon Bluff is kind of devious. In this game, the cards lie. You dig through a corrupted village where every character is represented by a card. Villagers and Outcasts can help you piece things together with abilities and clues. While Demons and Minions actively try to throw you off by blending in.
Every flip is basically a gamble between progress and failure. It also leans heavily into roguelike structure. You move through multiple villages in a single run, dealing with a growing deck filled with randomised cards, new mechanics, and increasing deception.
Demon Bluff also has a deckbuilding mode where you can draft your own setup before tackling multi-part runs. There’s an endless mode and challenge variants if you want something more punishing.
Right now, the game is aiming for 100+ unique character cards. You’ll get cosmetic unlocks like alternate skins, card backs, and decorations.
Also, to mark the latest announcement of the team-up with Northernlion, the game’s Steam playtest has a new update. It adds new cards, UI tweaks, animations, art improvements, balance changes, and general polish. So, check out Demon Bluff on Steam.
