A small indie project called Sludgineers just wrapped up its first week on Steam as a playable demo. Developed by Snickerdoodle Games and Funk Games and published by Funk Games, it’s a cosy pollution-cleaning active incremental title.
The demo version of Sludgineers is single-player and available on PC, Mac, and Linux through Steam. However, it limits content like regions, levels, quests, and upgrades.
The game has a pixel art style which is colourful and charming, with a relaxed vibe that fits the gameplay. Take a look at the trailer below to see what the game has to offer.
So, what exactly is Sludgineers?
It revolves around cleaning, mining, and refining pollution while driving through countryside locations. You earn cash and resources, build and expand a refinery, and process materials. You then upgrade the equipment, unlock new areas, and complete quests.
It has an incremental progression. You cruise around in a truck vacuuming up sludge, gradually improving your setup so future runs become more efficient. It’s all about getting better over time, figuring out optimal strategies, and maximising whatever currency you need to push upgrades further.
Honestly, it’s not really about finishing everything in one go. The title encourages replaying levels, chipping away at objectives, and coming back stronger with better gear. If you’re interested, you can check out the demo and try the game for yourself.
The Sludgineers demo comes across as something you pick up to unwind rather than rush through. It’s not a challenge to beat immediately, rather a steady progression where you slowly build toward efficiency.
There’s no exact release date for the title yet. You can keep on checking the latest updates on the title on their official website.
Not into incremental games? Then, check out this other new game that has just launched on PC. It’s Retro Football Management Card Game Nutmeg.
