Roblox has a gap in its market for relaxing simulator games, and this Grow a Garden Review discusses the void that this game has so gracefully filled. At its core, Grow a Garden is just as simple as Fisch was, if not simpler, with no real progression, exploration, or things to do. And yet, Grow a Garden has siphoned Fisch’s player base. So, what happened?
The Do Big Incident – Fisch’s Downfall
Roughly 7 months ago, Do Big Studios bought Fisch; this team also bought Blade Ball and A Dusty Trip. This marked the end for Fisch, as Do Big are best known for Doing Too Much, and making games lose their core values and plummet into P2W cash grabbers.
You may sense hostility in what I’m saying, which I think is more than justified. I loved Fisch. It was an excellent experience until it became competitive. If you didn’t have the latest rod, tied to a limited-time event lasting mere hours, you were doomed and hit a stalemate. Not fun! The only salvation for players who couldn’t commit to daily grinds would be to pay Robux to kind of catch up.
The Rise of Grow a Garden
Roblox has an ever-shifting population. Some games stand proud as pillars within the platform, whilst others compete to dominate as the most popular before fizzling out into nothingness. Grow a Garden has skyrocketed as the current top active game. But why is it so popular?
It’s simple, charming, and well paced. Grow a Garden isn’t overly complicated or competitive. Progression is linear and simple, and there are things to do if you want to do them, but you won’t fall behind if you don’t. It’s everything Fisch used to be, a relaxing social hangout game with idle progress.
Unless…
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Do Big recently acquired Grow a Garden. This upset a lot of players, and some feel this spells the end, as it did with Fisch. Hopefully, Do Big has learned its lesson from last time that bigger isn’t always better. But all of this doesn’t answer the main question of this indirect review. Is Grow a Garden fun? Or is it just this game’s turn to be popular?
Grow a Garden IS Fun!

I love Grow a Garden. It’s filled the gap that Fisch left behind, and I find the pace of the game rewarding, relaxing, and easy. I spend all day writing gaming guides and idly sitting in Grow a Garden so I don’t miss out on stock rotations and weather events, and that works great for me! I’m progressing at my own pace without feeling like I’m falling behind or forced to commit more.
It’s the perfect game to socially hang out whilst winding down or wasting time. I like moving my crops around and organising them. I like the easy yet engaging events that don’t make me feel rushed or pressured like I’m missing out, and I like touring other Gardens.
Unless the game suddenly becomes rushed, P2W, and competitive, I’ll stick with Grow a Garden, even if its player count dwindles in competition with a newer game in the future.
