Sponge Art is a game about snapping elastic bands around sponges. You’re trying to squish them into specific shapes so they’ll take a stamp and look cool. It’s an interesting puzzling idea, but there are a few things you’re going to have to get to grips with if you want your art to shine.
That’s where this guide comes in. We’ve played a good chunk of Sponge Art and discovered a series of strategies that are going to make sure you’re squeezing in just the right places. Follow these hints, tips and tricks and you’re going to ascend to the higher echelon of sponge artists.
Whether you’re about to snap your first band or you’ve already had to cut a few away, there’s going to be something here to help you out. These are the best hints, tips and cheats for Sponge Art.
Check the picture
Before you do anything, take a look at the picture that shows the object you’re trying to make. Familiarize yourself with the squeeze points and the overall shape that you’re aiming to make. Only when you’ve got that sussed should you move on to snapping the bands into place.
How many bands?
The next thing you need to do is look at the number of bands you’ve got. This will give you a good idea of where they need to go in order to squeeze the sponge so the stamp lands in just the right place. Figure out where you’re putting all the bands before you start placing them.
Double up
Sometimes you might have to double up bands to tighten a hold on a specific part of a project. It doesn’t happen all that often, but if you’ve got a band spare you might need to double squeeze. Or you might have gone wrong somewhere else. Always check and see if your sponge is looking right.
Snap back
If you’re not sure about where you’ve put a band, then don’t be afraid to snap it by tapping the undo button. It won’t cost you anything, and you’ve got an infinity number of bands. You snap them one at once, so if you’ve made multiple mistakes you’ll have to tap the button multiple times.
Is it worth watching the hints?
Only if you’re a perfectionist. You don’t get any extra goodies for getting a build 100% right, and it’s almost impossible to fail a level. If you’re stuck and desperate to get everything right, then watch the video for the hint, but for anyone else they’re about as literal a waste of time as you could imagine.
