PAKO Caravan (download from the App Store and Google Play Store) is one of those games that you can’t help but love. On the one hand it’s a tight arcade experience. On the other it encourages exploration and pushes you to play in different ways. It is, in short, really really good.

The game sees you driving a car around a level. You add trailers to your car as you go, and they follow your every move. You need to avoid your tail, collect more trailers and survive for as long as possible.

Things get even more interesting when the game throws a jump button into the mix. Now you can leap over your caravan, and any other obstacles that are low enough to clear.

Each level has a set of challenges too. These involve chaining together set numbers of vehicles as well as other, far more interesting tasks. In a level where you’re playing a tractor you need to cut all the grass. There are secrets to find too, and the letters of the word caravan to collect.

On top of all of that there are global leaderboards. Every time you die, you’ll be shown where you stand on those leaderboards. It’s a pretty sharp spur to keep you playing.

All of this keeps the game from getting too repetitive. Which is a pretty impressive achievement for a game that’s basically Snake after drinking a gallon of petrol.

PAKO Caravan is original, charming and surprisingly entertaining. There’s so much to like here, and there’s always something to do as well. If you’re looking for a game with a pure heart and a decent level of challenge then this one’s well worth checking out.
