Fallen Tear: The Ascension has launched into its full 1.0 version. Indie developer Winter Crew Studios has dropped the hand-drawn, story-driven Metroidvania on Steam, which originally entered Early Access in March 2026.

It takes place in the high-fantasy world of Raoah, and follows Hira, a mysterious young boy who’s destined to stand against ancient gods. He was discovered inside an ancient ruin, seemingly born from the shadows around him. A local woman named Maiah raises him alongside her son, Ravn.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension 1.0 roughly doubles the amount of content that was available during Early Access

There are 10 additional major regions with interconnected areas, 5 new main bosses, 16 new optional side bosses, and 11 new Fated Bonds, each with their own abilities and story moments. Hira also gets 3 additional Ascensions, 6 new Hunter Skills, 4 new Elemental Imbuements, and 16 new Mastery Skills across Tier III and Tier IV.

There are also more than 150 enemies to fight, 26 interactable biomes including Silent Spring, Lilac Mire, and Godspire Ruins, monster hunts, minigames, and different combat and skill trees to unlock, including Elemental Imbuements and Ascension skills.

There’s a Temple of Oras, which is Hira’s personal hub and castle floating high above Raoah. You can customize it, bring allies you meet throughout the journey back there, and play minigames to earn upgrades.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension has a little souls-like influence in it. The combat involves slashing, parrying, dodging, learning enemy patterns, switching weapons and items, and changing your approach in the middle of a fight. The game has multiple endings, too.

Visually, the game has traditional hand-drawn art, with lush forests and forgotten ruins. It also has full professional voice acting. Take a look at the launch trailer below.

Fallen Tear: The Ascension is now available on Steam for $24.99, with a 10% launch discount running for 14 days. It’s also planned for PlayStation, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
