Co-op games like It Takes Two never fail to entertain. On Any Journey is such an upcoming co-op game that’s launching later this year on PC and consoles. The game comes from Funbrew Games, an indie developer based in Hong Kong.
So, On Any Journey is an immersive co-op adventure for two players
The story follows Kai, Mateo, and Summer, who grew up in a pretty ordinary town. They all struggled with feeling different, and those differences left them shy and feeling like they weren’t good enough. Wanting to fit in, they make a wish and head off on a difficult adventure, hoping those wishes will finally come true.
During the adventure, you’ll run into Bruno, an enigmatic magician, the mysterious mask-wearing Pooka clan, and a gigantic rockstar ruling the depths of the ocean. On the other side is Big Man and his relentless guards, who are doing everything they can to stop your progress.
You’ll also be dealing with difficult choices and challenges where confidence fights against self-doubt and destiny keeps pushing back. On Any Journey mixes a narrative-driven, wordless cinematic adventure with arcade gameplay like platformers and beat ’em-ups. There are also space shooting sections in it.
The co-op mechanics let players literally stack on top of each other to solve environmental puzzles and sneak past enemies. It’s a three-legged race, where both people have to stay in sync, or nobody gets anywhere.
On Any Journey is designed around two controllers and one couch. It doesn’t rely on dialogue-heavy cutscenes or long conversations, and communicates emotions through gameplay, visuals, and music. Speaking of visuals, it has a vibrant, hand-painted artwork that’s transformed into fully 3D characters and environments alongside dynamic pixel art.
On Any Journey is now available on Steam to wishlist for PC. It’s also coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S.
