SFB Games is back with a new addition to their Detective Grimoire series. The last one was the award-winning mystery game Tangle Tower. Now, it’s follow-up, The Mermaid Mask, is out on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
This time Grimoire and Sally aren’t wandering around a spooky tower. They’re heading deep beneath the ocean after getting a cryptic summons from the mysterious Captain Seafoam. They board the world’s weirdest submarine, carrying only a mysterious letter, and two photographs.
Captain Magnus Mortuga is found dead inside his own submarine. He’s discovered alone inside a locked room with a single fatal wound. No murder weapon anywhere in sight, and only an ancient stone cauldron sitting nearby.
Some people believe Mortuga was a cursed mariner. Others insist he was an immortal time-traveller. Then there are the ones convinced he was actually a vampire forced to remain hidden beneath the sea forever.
The Mermaid Mask takes place in the pitch-black waters beyond the decaying remains of the long-forgotten fishing town of Silkwirm-on-Sea!
There’s the abandoned town, the creepy submarine, and a crew full of suspicious weirdos. The game brings a point-and-click mystery with sharp humour and plenty of tricky puzzles. Just like the previous chapters.
You spend your time exploring every hand-painted inch of the Mortuga Submarine, interrogating its cast of oddball suspects. One of the biggest changes this time is that every clue is now a fully-realised 3D object. Also, you can inspect and manipulate them from different angles to uncover hidden details.
The Mermaid Mask is available now on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 for $19.99.
