Is the Fisch Firework Rod any good? It’s obtainable for a limited-time and it’s secondary passive ability is nullified after the Golden Tide event.

How to Get the Firework Rod

To obtain the Firework Rod, you need to complete Dr Glimmerfin’s limited-time quest. This scientist is located on Moosewood island, by a whiteboard that has notes scrawled across it. He asks you to collect 4 different Algae types: Mushgrove Algae, Ancient Algae, Snowcap Algae, and Forsaken Algae.

The Algae Pools spawn randomly at the corresponding locations. You can the Algae to Dr Glimmerfin altogether or separately as and when you obtain them. You unlock the Firework Rod after giving him the 3rd piece of Algae!

Passive Ability

The Firework Rod’s passive ability grants you a 15% chance of fishing up fish with the Firework mutation. This mutation sells for 3.5x the regular value, increasing your profit nicely. Still, it’s only a 15% chance, so there’s no guarantee every fish you catch will have the Firework mutation.

Perfect for the Eternal Frostwhale

The Golden Tide Pool’s Eternal Frostwhale is notorious for its difficulty during the fishing minigame. Whilst you can get around it with a strong rod and determination, the Firework Rod is known to be one of the best options. This is because the secondary passive ability of this rod reduces the ‘progress lost’ during the minigame by 20% when trying to catch the Eternal Frostwhale.

Using this rod also increases the chances of an Eternal Frostwhale appearing by 0.2%. The main downside is that this catch is only available for a limited amount of time, so once it disappears, this passive ability will be null.
