The MOBA genre is a massive one on PC, thanks to games like League of Legends, DOTA 2 and Heroes of the Storm, and it’s slowly but surely gaining a foothold on mobile as well. There are plenty of MOBAs to choose from on the Google Play Store and the App Store, so many in fact that sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming deciding which one to pick.

Which is where this list comes in. We’ve picked what we think are the top ten, very best mobile MOBAs that you can pick up right now for your Android device, iPhone or iPad. There are traditional MOBAs, MOBAs that shake things up a bit, and even one that uses swanky AR technology to make things even more exciting.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

One of the biggest MOBAs in the world is now available on the App Store and Google Play Store. It’s a fantastic, feature-stuffed experience that takes everything you loved about the non-portable version and makes it, well, portable.

It can take a bit of getting used to, especially if you’re new to the genre, but there are plenty of tutorials to work your way through so you can figure out what you’re supposed to do. Well worth checking out.

Marvel Realm of Champions

Not only does this game let you take control of some of the biggest heroes in the Marvel universe, it’s also designed to be super easy to pick up and play. Even if you don’t know what the O in MOBA stands for, you’re going to be able to get to grips with this one.

There are a bunch of different modes, a big community waiting to try and take you down and regular events to make sure you’re interested as you possibly can be. And it’s got Hulk in it. Hulk smash!

Clash Royale

If you haven’t played Clash Royale yet, well, it’s time to rectify that. This is a brilliant, card-based MOBA that distills the genre into perfect three minute blasts. It’s also painfully addictive.

Mobile games don’t stick around for long if they’re not popular, and Clash Royale has been smashing around near the top of the charts for a good few years now. Which really tells you everything you need to know.

Vainglory

Another game that’s been around for a good long while. This was the first MOBA to really take a run at the mobile crown. It’s still polished, it’s still competitive and it’s still an awful lot of fun.

It’s another game that takes a while to get to grips with. There’s a lot going on, but once things start to click you’re going to fall in love with everything that Vainglory has to offer.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Another of the more traditional MOBAs available on mobile. It’s got enough tweaks and tricks to keep you interested, and it’s got a slightly lower level of entry than a lot of the other bigger games on this list.

The game is still going strong, and there are plenty of people who rank it at the top of the mobile MOBA list. Check it out and see if they’re right.

Arena of Valor

Arena of Valor is stacked to the gills with updates and new characters. There’s something new to try most months, and it always adds to the already super solid MOBA experience lying beneath those gorgeous graphics.

This one’s built by Tencent, it’s a classic 5v5 experience, and there are already more than a 100 different characters to choose from. That’s a lot of characters.

Heroes of Order and Chaos

Gameloft’s take on the mobile MOBA is another game that’s been around for a long while. It’s recentl-ish been revamped with a bunch of new features and some more modern tweaks, and it’s definitely worth taking some time to rediscover it.

This is another trad MOBA with 3v3 or 5v5 battles, and it’s set in Gameloft’s a-bit-like-Warcraft Order and Chaos universe. It’s got some pretty sweet moves that are going to keep you on your toes.

Magic: Mana Strike

This one is a different take on the MOBA genre. It throws in concepts from super famous card game Magic, and makes something that sits between Clash Royale and the more traditional games on the list.

It’s flashy, it’s fancy and there’s more than enough strategy and action to keep you entertained. If you’re looking for something that’s fresh in all of the right ways, you should definitely consider picking up Magic: Mana Strike.

Badland Brawl

A side-on, physics based take on the MOBA. It’s got shades of Angry Birds, tower defense games and a whole lot more. You’re chucking out your heroes and sending them to mash up your opponent’s base.

The game looks gorgeous, it’s super easy to pick up and play, and you’re going to be surprised just how deep it is. The perfect MOBA to play when you’ve only got a few minutes of time on your hand.

The Machines

What makes this one stand out? Well how about the fact that its battles take place in the real world thanks to some swanky AR tech? Or that it’s stuffed to the mechanical gills with massive stompy robots?

There’s a lot of action here, and the fact you can wander around the battlefield to choose your vantage point. It’s magnificent and it’s also got a sharp, competitive streak to it as well. Also, robots!
