Illusion Connect has been a fixture in the headlines ever since it smashed through 600,00 pre-registrations and landed with an almighty crash on the mobile app stores in October.
Its latest event is, well, two events actually – an actual event, and a super-polished promo video to flesh out the game’s thrilling fantasy backstory.
In case you need reminding, Illusion Connect is a stunning anime RPG that sees you recruiting and training Radiants, as well as socializing with them and sprucing up your headquarters.
It sees you battling, too, sending your Radiants off to fight the forces of evil in perfectly balanced teams. The game’s killer twist, though, is the way it integrates socializing and fighting by increasing the stats of your Radiants as you hang out with them through a variety of social modes.
There are 50 of these Radiants to collect, all voiced by superstar Japanese voice actors and brought to life with incredibly polished anime visuals. Each of them has her own personality and backstory, too, as well as hobbies, physical characteristics, and so on.
Developer Superprism Games has just fleshed out their backstories even more in its latest promo video, which explains how the villain Frantiva crossed the border between the Dream World and the real world using a lens, and attempted to destroy the game’s setting of Bloomsea City.
Fortunately for humankind, Saya happens to be walking in the vicinity when she senses Frantiva’s presence, resulting in a throwdown.
Alas, Frantiva eventually overcomes her opponent. But just before she deals the final blow, her non-evil sister Angela shows up and deflects her spear with a shield, and suddenly Frantiva finds herself fighting two opponents.
Guess what. She beats them both, and is once again on the brink of murderous victory when Phoebe appears from the sky with a fireball. At last, Frantiva seems to have met her match.
But the fight is interrupted yet again, this time by the final boss Rotania. Now the world is really in trouble.
Once you’ve watched this rad new video, you can check out the Eternal Snowflake event. It begins later in December, and includes daily trials, event stages, limited edition skins for Frantiva and Angela, and a ton of other cool stuff.
Illusion Connect is free to download on the App Store and the Google Play Store.
