Bluff Plus is a new game from Zynga. It’s all about laying down numbered cards. The twist? You need to say what cards you’re playing and you don’t need to tell the truth.
It’s a really simple idea, but there are plenty of layers to the experience. Layers that we’ve peeled back in this beginner’s guide. Follow these hints, tips and tricks and we reckon you’re going to be winning way more often than you’re losing.
Have you played Bluff Plus? Got your own helpful suggestions to throw out? Well make sure you add them in the comments section at the bottom of the article. Before that, though, here’s everything you need to know to win in Bluff Plus.

Take Your Time
Often you’ll find that bluffs take longer to lay, because there’s more thinking time involved in picking the cards. To counteract that, you should always take a few seconds before you play anything.
The last thing you want is your moves to be obvious – it’s what poker players might call a tell. Don’t do anything until your time bar is around halfway down and you’ll find your bluffs getting through more often and your true lays getting incorrectly called out.
Attack And Raid
You should attack and raid other islands whenever you get the chance. This will get you more gold, which you can spend on upgrading your own little piece of the world. The more decorations you have, the more stars you’ll gain, which let you move to different kinds of islands.
You’ll get attack and raid tokens by bluffing and winning games. Use them whenever you can and you’ll see your gold coffers getting fuller and fuller, which is exactly what you want.
Remember What’s Been Played
It’s important to keep track of the cards that have been thrown down. When a player passes, the cards in the pile at the centre are discarded. In other words, they’re gone for good and they won’t be coming back.
So, if you’ve played three of one kind of a card already and your opponent has passed, there’s no chance they can play two of that card at any point. Remembering what’s unplayable is a great way to spot bluffs and punish your opponent.
Do The Math
When you pass, you’re going to have to pick up one card. If you’ve already played two cards in a rally, then you’re going to be doing better at the end of the turn than you were at the beginning if you pass.
If you’re unsure of what to do, work out what you’ve played and what the benefits of your potential next move are going to be. It’s better to have to pick up one card than calling a bluff you’re not sure about and having to pick up the whole pile.
Set Up Your Victory
When you’ve got two kinds of cards left, it’s a good move to bluff. Play one kind, claiming it’s the other. If your opponent calls your bluff, you’re no worse off than you were at the start of your turn.
If they don’t, you can play your other cards to claim a victory. You should only make this move when your opponent has more cards than you do, otherwise you could be setting them up to beat you.
